About the Professional Scrum Master (PSM I) credential
It is not Scrum Alliance's Certified ScrumMaster (CSM). CSM requires a course. PSM I does not. You can buy the assessment and self-study, or take an optional Professional Scrum Master course. The passing bar is 85%. Once earned, PSM I does not expire and has no renewal fee.

Is Professional Scrum Master the same as being a Scrum Master?
No. Scrum Master is an accountability on a Scrum Team. Professional Scrum Master I is Scrum.org's assessment of your understanding of that accountability and the Scrum framework. Passing PSM I does not place you on a team.
Is PSM I the same as Certified ScrumMaster (CSM)?
No. PSM I is issued by Scrum.org, does not require a course, needs 85% to pass, and does not expire. CSM is issued by Scrum Alliance and requires a live course. Employers sometimes accept either. They are not interchangeable credentials.
Does PSM I expire?
No. Scrum.org does not charge a renewal fee or require continuing education to keep PSM I.
