Welcome to CertLynx. By accessing or using our platform, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”). Please read them carefully.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account or using CertLynx, you confirm that you are at least 18 years old and agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy.

2. Use of the Platform

You may use CertLynx to:

  • Connect with certified tutors for exam preparation
  • Access study resources and community forums
  • Track your certification journey

You agree not to misuse the platform, including attempting to gain unauthorized access, distributing harmful content, or violating any applicable laws.

3. Tutor Services

Tutors on CertLynx are independent professionals who set their own rates and availability. CertLynx facilitates the connection but is not responsible for the outcome of tutoring sessions.

3a. Tutor Verification Requirement & Prohibited Conduct

This section exists to protect every person who uses CertLynx.

To offer tutoring services on CertLynx, individuals must complete our official tutor application and verification process, which includes identity verification, credential review, and acceptance of tutor-specific terms. Standard (student) accounts are not authorized to solicit, offer, or accept payment for tutoring services of any kind.

The following conduct is strictly prohibited and constitutes a material breach of these Terms:

  • Using a student account to offer or conduct paid tutoring sessions.
  • Representing yourself as a verified CertLynx tutor without completing the verification process.
  • Collecting payment from other users outside of CertLynx’s official payment system.
  • Impersonating a verified tutor or misrepresenting your credentials, qualifications, or identity.

CertLynx reserves the right to immediately suspend or permanently terminate any account found engaging in the above conduct, without refund. In addition, depending on the nature and severity of the violation, such conduct may constitute fraud, wire fraud, or deceptive trade practices under applicable federal and state law, and may be referred to the appropriate law enforcement or regulatory authorities. CertLynx will cooperate fully with any investigation.

These measures are not punitive — they exist solely to maintain a safe, trustworthy environment for all learners and legitimate tutors on our platform.

4. Payments

Payments are processed securely through Stripe. The following fee structure applies to all tutoring sessions booked through CertLynx:

  • Platform fee: CertLynx retains 15% of each session’s gross amount. The tutor receives the remaining 85%, paid directly to their connected bank account via Stripe Connect.
  • Late cancellation fee: If a student cancels a booked session within 24 hours of the scheduled start time, a flat $50.00 late cancellation fee is charged to the student. This fee is subject to the same 85/15 split: the tutor receives $42.50 and CertLynx retains $7.50.
  • No-show: Students have a 10-minute grace period after the scheduled start time. If the student has not joined by then, the tutor may mark the session as a no-show. A no-show is charged at the full session price and is subject to the same 85/15 split.
  • Payment processing: Standard Stripe processing fees (2.9% + $0.30 per transaction) are deducted from the gross amount before the platform fee calculation.
  • Payout schedule: Tutor earnings are disbursed weekly to the tutor’s connected bank account. CertLynx reserves the right to adjust the payout schedule with reasonable advance notice.

Refunds to students for on-time cancellations are issued in full. CertLynx reserves the right to modify the platform fee rate with 30 days’ written notice to active tutors. Continued use of the platform after the effective date of any fee change constitutes acceptance of the new rate.

5. SMS / Text Messaging

By providing your mobile number and opting in during registration or in Settings → Notifications, you consent to receive transactional and account-related text messages from CertLynx, including one-time verification codes, certification study reminders, and tutor session and booking updates. Consent to receive text messages is not a condition of purchasing any goods or services.

Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. You may opt out at any time by replying STOP to any message or by disabling text messages in your Settings; reply HELP for help. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. For details on how we handle mobile data, see our Privacy Policy.

6. Intellectual Property

All content on CertLynx—including logos, text, and software—is owned by CertLynx or its licensors. You may not copy or redistribute any content without written permission.

7. Disclaimer of Warranties

CertLynx is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that use of the platform will result in passing any certification exam.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, CertLynx is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the platform.

9. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms at any time. Continued use of CertLynx after changes constitutes your acceptance of the new Terms.
