The GMAT Exam (Focus Edition) is GMAC's admissions test for MBA and other graduate business programs. It has three equally timed sections — Quantitative Reasoning, Verbal Reasoning, and Data Insights — and no Analytical Writing Assessment.

About the GMAT exam
The total score runs from 205 to 805. You may choose section order, bookmark and review questions within a section, and change up to three answers per section.

How to prepare

Take an official GMAT Official Practice exam to set a baseline on the 205–805 scale.

Drill Data Insights — unique to the Focus Edition and often the least familiar section.

Practice Quant (problem solving) and Verbal (critical reasoning and reading) under 45-minute clocks.

Use bookmarking and the three-answer-change rule in practice so they are habits on test day.

Review the Official Guide and GMAC practice questions, not only third-party banks.
FAQ
Is there still an essay on the GMAT?
No. The Focus Edition dropped Analytical Writing. The three scored sections are Quant, Verbal, and Data Insights.
What is a good GMAT Focus score?
It depends on the program. The scale is 205–805 (not the old 200–800). Compare yourself to each school's published Focus Edition range, not to legacy GMAT scores.
