About the ATI TEAS certification
The ATI TEAS (Test of Essential Academic Skills), Version 7, is the nursing- and allied-health admissions exam used by many U.S. programs to measure academic readiness. It is not a licensure exam — schools use your composite and section scores against their own cutoffs.
Version 7 is 170 questions (150 scored + 20 unscored) in 209 minutes across four timed sections: Reading, Mathematics, Science, and English Language Usage. Question types include multiple choice, multiple select, fill-in-the-blank, ordered response, and hot spots.
Who it’s for: Applicants to nursing (PN/VN, ADN, BSN) and many allied-health programs that require the TEAS.

How to study for the ATI TEAS
- 1Confirm Version 7 and which transcript destinations your schools require before you register.

Is there a single TEAS passing score?
No. ATI reports scores; each nursing or allied-health program sets its own composite and section minimums. Check every school you are applying to.
How should I prepare for the TEAS?
Treat it as four separate timed tests. Most candidates need several weeks of mixed review plus at least two full-length practice exams. Science and reading usually decide the composite.
